XHTML / CSS Templates and Search Engine Optimisation.
As well as web design, we specialise in creating XHTML/CSS Templates, this is the 'front', or 'presentation' end of the website build. We can handle the entire job – from design, to front-end build, to back-end build (bespoke CMS) to completion – or we can just handle a specific part of your website's creation.
Below are some technicalities of our front-end coding, outlining how the templates are of the highest quality – making future adjustments as easy as possible, as well as ensuring you meet accessibility guidelines and really helping your site's search engine optimisation.
ALL our templates feature:
- 100% hand coded pixel-perfect XHTML/CSS templates (no, often erroneous WYSIWYG Dreamweaver website creation)
- Fast turnaround: we can create templates extremely quickly.
- Work on all major browsers: IE6, IE7, Firefox and Safari. We can also test in more browsers (such as Opera) if you require.
- Table-less markup meaning your website design can be changed and manipulated with ease. Vital for accessibility and SEO. We will use tables only when displaying tabular information (i.e. using tables for what they were originally created for).
- Totally semantic, for example: all
HEADINGtags will be in the correct place, paragraph, blockquoteand evencitetags will be used where appropriate – we will not turn your site into 'div-soup'. The minimal amount of markup will applied to the template ensuring ease of editing and lower file sizes. - Easily integrated into content management/back-end systems. We offer an integration service into blogging engine Wordpress, popular content management system Joomla and the very easy to use eCommerce solution Shopify.
SEO – Search Engine Optimisation
When it comes to SEO, the front-end code of a website is key to achieving strong results. Our templates will created using the most up-to-date techniques, ensuring that your website has a superior chance of appearing at the top of the search engine results pages (SERPs).
We will ask a series of questions before the project begins, and establish which search terms your website should be optimised for. Often it is the case that a website should be much more specialised in its terms, for example:
A Crawley based construction company dealing with mainly local clients does not want to just optimise their website to be found under the very general term 'construction', as they will never be found in the SERPs. To increase their chances of appearing near the top of the SERPs under more specialist terms, their site should be optimised for the terms 'construction', 'Crawley' and 'fibreglass' (a speciality the company has).
We advise on many SEO techniques: domain name, subdomain usage, URL naming and structure, keyword density, title text to accompany images, site linking etc.
